More information on the Greenovation Award
Horticulture is in a state of flux; worldwide there are many developments in the field of sustainable production and trade. Consumers are also increasingly expecting a sustainable product. Royal FloraHolland wants to stimulate sustainability in the chain and therefore presents the 'Greenovation Award' during the Trade Fair Aalsmeer.
How to apply?
Exhibitors of the Trade Fair Aalsmeer with sustainably produced products or concepts can apply for the 'Greenovation Award'. A professional jury evaluates the applications and determines whether the product or concept is nominated for the Greenovation Award. The professional jury also determines 50% of the final assessment. The other 50% is determined by the (professional) public vote online.
The Greenovation Award stands for the best sustainable product or concept introduction by a Trade Fair Aalsmeer exhibitor. The nominations will be presented at the Royal FloraHolland House during the Trade Fair Aalsmeer, where the Awards will also be presented on 6 November 2019.
Moreover, if you are nominated for the Greenovation Award, you will get extra exposure in the run-up to the fair.
Mind you! You can register for this beautiful award until 1 September 2019.
The winners of 2017:
Greenbalanz: The winner in the category 'Best Concept' is Pure Orchids of GreenBalanZ from Kudelstaart. When growing Pure Orchids, GreenBalanZ only uses natural protective equipment and organic nutrients. The plant is also edible. GreenBalanZ uses 'gas-free greenhouses' where heat is stored in the summer and used in the winter. The jury: "GreenBalanZ is a pioneer in the organic cultivation sector. Pure Orchids is a complete sustainable concept."
Fresco Flowers:The award in the category 'Best Article' has been granted to Eco Flowerbag of Fresco Flowers from Aalsmeer. Fresco Flowers uses waste as a valuable raw material. The Eco Flowerbag was developed together with Kras Recycling. It is a luxury carrier bag for flowers. It is easy to use and protects the flowers. The product is made of 100% recycled packaging material for flowers. The jury: "It is nice to see that waste is converted into a new useful product."
The winners of 2018:
Ovata: The winner of the Greenovation Award 'Best Concept' is Ovata with 'Because we care'. The jury says: "Ovata's packaging case Because we care tells the story of the company's approach far away in Uganda with a commitment to women's rights. Ovata's approach in Uganda is a good example of CSR actions. This approach is difficult to communicate to the trade and the consumer. The Because we care cover offers a solution for this."
Zentoo:The winner of the Greenovation Award 'Best Article' is Zentoo with the compostable flower sleeve. From the jury report: "The packaging line of compostable flower sleeves that the Zentoo association presents in collaboration with Van der Windt packaging is a filling in of an important link that has been missing until now. In principle, the cover is widely applicable, not only for chrysanthemums, but also for other cut flowers and houseplants. A biodegradable sleeve that can be taken from the garden to the florist or consumer and then be disposed of with green waste has the potential to lead to a real breakthrough in reducing the use of plastic".
